GOP candidate Donald Trump believes that the #BlackLivesMatter protester who was forcefully kicked out of a speech in Birmingham, Alabama, deserved everything that happened to him.
Mercutio Southall Jr who was captured on video being thrown to the ground and kicked by Donald Trump supporters at a rally and claimed he was called a ‘n****r’ and a ‘monkey’ by people in the crowd. ‘Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,’ Trump told Fox News. ‘I have a lot of fans, and they were not happy about it. And this was a very obnoxious guy who was a trouble-maker who was looking to make trouble.’
The incident began after Southall took off his sweater to reveal his ‘Black Lives Matter’ shirt. Shortly after, Southall was thrown to the ground and kicked as some supporters appear to try to break up the scuffle and others are seen approaching the brawl to kick the man on the ground. Security eventually hauled the protester to his feet and dragged him away as he tried to resist and continued to shout.
The protester claimed he was repeatedly called a ‘n****r’ and a ‘monkey’ by members of the crowd and that one tried to strangle him as he was pinned to the ground.
He added: ‘When I wake up in the morning, I pretty much expect trouble. We’re not the n****s from the 60s. I believe in defending myself, defending my people and sticking up for my people.’
Southall’s claims came as Donald Trump appeared to defend those who brawled with the protester on Saturday.
