Family With Infant Children Booted Off Delta Flight

Family With Infant Children Booted Off Delta Flight:

Brian Schear of Huntington Beach was flying Delta with his wife, his young son and daughter after a family vacation. The family purchased three tickets, for each adult and one for their 18-year-old son. However, at the last minute, their teen took an earlier flight home. Their young children ages 1 and 2, were going to sit on their parents’ laps, but the couple thought since they purchased a third ticker already, they could put one of the toddler’s in a car seat and the other on their lap.

Schear said the airline told him that because his oldest son wasn’t using the ticket and because FAA rules state that a child under 2-years-old cannot occupy a seat, they needed to have the child on their lap and give the seat to another passenger.

However upon investigation, FAA.Gov states you should NOT hold a child in your lap during flight because ” Your arms aren’t capable of holding your child securely, especially during unexpected turbulence.” It also states: “The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) strongly urges you to secure your child in a CRS or device for the duration of your flight. ”

Brian Schear States:

“Here is a video of Delta airlines booting myself, my wife and my 2 children ages 1 and 2 off delta flight 2222 April 23 from Maui to LAX. They oversold the flight and asked us to give up a seat we purchased for my older son that my younger son was sitting in. You will hear them lie to me numerous times to get my son out of the seat. The end result was we were all kicked off the flight. They then filled our 4 seats with 4 customers that had tickets but no seats. They oversold the flight. When will this all stop? It was midnight in Maui and we had to get a hotel and purchase new tickets the following day.”

Schear said he lost their seats, got no refund and had to book a hotel room and buy three more plane tickets the next day. He told Butler he doesn’t want any money back, just wants an apology from Delta.
