4 young children and 3 adults were killed when a runaway tractor-trailer crashed into the minivan they were in on Route 13 around 6 p.m. An injured man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
A trailer had broke away from a truck that was transporting crushed cars Wednesday in the rural town of Truxton. It was reported the trailer tore the minivan in half. The names of the victims have not been released but the children are said to be from two different families.
Ken Stone, first assistant fire chief of Truxton, was one of many firefighters who responded. Stone said that the driver of the minivan tried to dodge the trailer but didn’t have enough time. Stone also commented on finding the children (all under 10 years of age) in the vehicle.
