It was the fairy tale ending for New York Yankees’ short stop – Derek Jeter, in a dramatic 6-5 New York Yankees victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Jeter’s first at bat electrified the crowd with the Yankee slugger cracking the ball that appeared like it was going to be a home run but instead fell a bit short turning into an RBI double. But after blowing a 3-run lead, it looked like Yankee fans were not going to get the fitting send-off Jeter deserved.
Designated hitter Jose Pirela led the bottom of the ninth with a single and Brett Gardner bunted him to second, Jeter the came up against right-handed reliever Evan Meek and hit the game-winning single.
