Tracy Morgan Returning to Nashville To Apologize

During a recent comedy routine in Nashville Tennessee, Tracy Morgan stunned the crowd and the world alike when he made some serious statements in regards to his “feelings” towards the gay community. The rant began with Tracy explaining his feelings if his son were to be gay stating:

“better talk to me like a man and not in a gay voice or I’ll pull out a knife and stab that little n**ger to death.”

Tracy also told the crowd,

“I don’t “f*cking care if I piss off some gays, because if they can take a f*cking d**k up their ass … they can take a f*cking joke.”

Some people in the crowd were so disgusted, that they got up and left the show.

Tina Fey who worked with Tracy on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ and works with Tracy currently on ‘30 Rock‘ stated:

“The violent imagery of Tracy’s rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community.” Tina also added “It also doesn’t line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person.

“I hope for his sake that Tracy’s apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian co-workers at ’30 Rock’, without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket.”

Bob Greenblatt — NBC Chairman made it clear to Tracy Morgan that this type of incident will not be tolerated as it negatively impacts both NBC and ‘30 Rock

Since the incident, Tracy has publicly apologized stating that his jokes went too far and were in no way entertaining or funny.

Jarrett Barrios — the President of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation — GLAAD reached out to Tracy about an in-person apology in Nashville which Tracy immediately agreed to. Tracy also plans to visit homeless gay teens at the Ali Forney Center in NYC. Tracy also plans to film a PSA for GLAAD’s upcoming “Amplify Your Voice” campaign.

Tracy Morgan is pulling out all the “stops” in order to change the current perception everyone has of him. If anyone knows Tracy Morgan, then you know he is controversial and says the most outlandish things from time to time. Does that mean he truly feels this way? Tracy is also known for playing a lot of Gay roles in movies.

Some of the greatest comedians come from deep and dark lives. They find an outlet through comedy. They are able to make horrific events seem funny. Can someones routine go too far? Does this mean if I am offended by a scene in a movie, I can walk out and demand an apology from the Writers, Director and Actors? How do you feel about this situation?
