Scammers Impersonate Keaton Jones and His Mother To Cash in On Viral Sensation

It is not hard to believe that there are people in this world that would attempt to hop on the coat tails of a viral story to try and gain something from it.

That is exactly what Kimberly Jones, Keaton’s mother is saying happened to them.

Keaton Jones went viral after his mother Kimberly Jones recorded his emotional bullying experience and posted it to her page.

Soon after, actors and athletes reached out to offer their support to Keaton. Among some of the more notable celebrities were – Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Dana White, Stipe Miocic, Mark Hamil and many others.

But things became fishy when mixed martial artist, Joe Schilling reached out. Schilling offered to fly them out to an MMA event and was turned down but not before being asked to share their GoFundMe page.

Schilling was upset and posted a video asking the question, why would you turn anything down yet ask for your GoFundMe page to be shared? It seems like you’re only in it for the money right?

Well, that caused so much of a stir that the supposed Instagram account of Kimberly Jones – KimberlyJones_38 (which coincidentally is no longer available) messaged Schilling saying – “Whatever happened to us whites sticking up for each other?”

Soon after, many believed this along with Kimberly’s post regarding the Confederate flag, was enough evidence to deem Kimberly Jones a racist scammer.

Naturally, anyone associated with the Jones family was attacked including Lakyn, Keaton’s sister whom the fake IG account said to follow after deactivating.

However, Twitter user @14Tydemedeiros reached out to Keaton’s sister Lakyn and confronted her on the allegations.

Lakyn stated none of the accounts in question were associated with her mother Kimberly or her brother Keaton. She also stated they never started a GoFundMe page.

The GoFundMe page has since been reported and is no longer accepting donations. The following is the statement posted by Joseph Lam, the person who created the GFM account:

“As many of you know I paused the donations as well as the comments. As I sit back and read these comments and watched the video again I feel I have to make this update. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE MOM!! However passing judgement on her before you know her is a form of bullying. Condemnation before evaluation is the ultimate form of ignorance. I can’t even say for sure that any of whats being said is true. I don’t know the family personally and never claimed to have known them. This is about a kid who’s been bullied and not just one kid, Keaton, there are many unspoken cases about kids being bullied. We have to be the voice for the voiceless. In the video I saw a kid crying not just for himself but for others. To me thats a kid with a heart of gold and deserves praise. Im hoping that we can turn the money into something good whether it be for private school or college fund. Im in touch with GFM on how to proceed at this point. Thank you every one that donated.”

No other updates are available at this time but we will be sure to follow up as soon as we hear anything.
