On September 6, 2017 the LVMPD was made aware of a statement put on social media that contained allegations of police misconduct towards NFL player Michael Bennett, who was in Las Vegas over the weekend of August 26, 2017. With the Mayweather-McGregor fight taking place that weekend, and approximately 200,000 visitors in town, the LVMPD had every available resource committed to ensuring the safety of everyone in the Las Vegas valley.

This incident originated at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 27, 2017 when the LVMPD received calls of a possible active shooter at Drai’s Nightclub located inside of the Cromwell. The event resulted in Mr. Bennett being detained for approximately 10 minutes during the investigation. He was later released and the active shooter information was later determined to be unfounded.

Michael Bennett spoke with the press on Wednesday regarding a racially charged confrontation he had with a Las Vegas police officer who threatened the football player at gunpoint (9-6-2017)

Cornerback Richard Sherman says the Seahawks have rallied around lineman Michael Bennett and that he and other teammates have experienced incidents of racial profiling in their lives.

The LVMPD is asking anyone with video of this incident, or any information about it to contact the Internal Affairs Bureau at 702-828-3422.
