Slayer Guitarist – Jeff Hanneman Dies Of Liver Failure

A huge loss in music today as the iconic Guitarist for the legendary metal band Slayer – Jeff Hanneman died of an apparent liver failer at the age of 49-years-old.

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

Slayer began in Huntington Park, California in 1981 when guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman auditioned for the same band but then decided to form their own. With the addition of Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo, Slayer rocked the thrash metal world with the release of ‘Reign In Blood’.
