NRA Releases Shooting Game For Kids On Ipad

Believe it or not but after campaigning against violent video games, the NRA has released a shooting game approved for children 4 and up and it is already creating an uproar among many people.

The National Rifle Association stated that its goal with the target practice app is to promote safe and responsible gun ownership (to 4 year olds?) as well as educate the public about firearms.

The ‘NRA: Practice Range’ app allows for users to shoot at targets both in and outdoor settings as well as allow for pistol grip Mossberg or a semi-automatic sniper rifle upgrades for an additional $0.99.

The game has already sparked outrage with people who placed negative reviews on the site. Ryan Green says

“Remember when the NRA was blaming the game industry for fostering violence in America? They now want to cut out the middle man and now have their shadowy conspiracy all to themselves. In spite of that, the NRA has published a free to play iOS game that, frankly, adds nothing to our lives except irony. It controls terribly, is visually appalling, and is filled with micro transactions to get every cent out of the unwitting public.
This game is disgusting on so many levels but it might not be as obvious on the surface. Supporting this game is to support the NRA, which frankly, should be embarrassed with this unabashed cash grab.”

Another man listed as ‘Another Programmer’ writes:

“As a game developer I am completely sad at this. I really don’t even know where to start. Maybe the fact that this is a game for kids 4 and up, and YOU HAVE TO SHOOT THINGS! Is Call of Duty or Halo for kids 4 and up? Can I buy a gun at the age of 4? NRA is this really what you are promoting, shoot stuff without education? Last range I won’t to you had to know how to operate a firearm. This app doesn’t provide any learning about how to use, maintain, or prevent injury while you play. You have to click on a secondary button for more information that maybe 2 out of 10 people will click.
I can keep going on about bugs and other problems. But you get the picture. And I don’t want to troll like the three wolf shirt.”

Where do you stand? Sound off…
