McDonald’s Unveils New GrandMac!

One of America’s most iconic sandwiches has had a makeover. McDonald’s finally unveiled the new “Big Mac” aptly named the “Grand Mac”. The new McDonald’s hamburger which was originally unveiled last November and scheduled for an early 2017 launch, sits on a larger sesame seed bun, is made with two beef patties weighing in at one-third of a pound. The traditional Big Mac has two, 1.6-ounce beef patties. The Grand Mac is essentially a Big Mac on steroids. McDonald’s also introduced Mac Jr., a single-layer Big Mac, for the kids or those watching their weight.

McDonald’s began testing the Grand Mac and Mac Jr. in more than 120 restaurants in the central Ohio and Dallas areas in April last year.

Keeping true to McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook’s statement, the new sandwich is not “progressive”. According to the McDonald’s Web site, Big Mac sauce has approximately 32 ingredients, including high-fructose corn syrup that the company recently chose to omit from its sesame seed buns.

The sauce contains as many as five preservatives such as potassium sorbate and caramel color, which are no longer common ingredients with the industry moving to offer more natural ingredients to health-conscious consumers.

#grandmac ➡ #halfmac ➡ #quartermac ➡ #bellymac I wish it was bigger tho. ?
