Super Bowl XLVII Power Outage Controversy (Video)

Super Bowl XLVII did not go off as smoothly as some would have hoped. During the 3rd quarter, the Mercedes Benz Superdome experianced a power outage to half of the stadium. The blackout came after the Baltimore Ravens looked like they were going to make it a one sided game leading the 49ers 28-6.

Officials said it will take at least 15 minutes for complete restoration but instead took 30+ minutes for the game to resume. When the game did begin, the San Francisco 49ers made an astounding comeback cutting the game to within 8 points and almost winning the Super Bowl.

Entergy was the company providing power to the Dome and reports stated that the power issue at the Super Dome appeared to be on the customer’s side. This means the interference was do to something or someone in the dome.

Here’s what was accomplished during the blackout:

  • More Commercials
  • Ravens Lose Momentum
  • 49ers Gain Momentum
  • Game is no longer one sided
  • Vegas odds almost spot-on (4-points)

Even stranger, was that there was no explanation on why or how the outage happened or what was done to fix the “problem”. Was the Super Bowl power outage financially motivated? It would seem that a lot more money was to be made with a blackout than without one. Thoughts?
