NBC Reporter Hacked Within Minutes of Landing In Sochi (Video)

If you thought the restroom situation was bad in Sochi, wait until you find out that hackers are sitting idly by waiting for you to turn on your phones and computers. An NBC Nightly News report reveals that it is not a question of “If” but “When” you will be hacked when arriving in Sochi, Russia.

Richard Engle met with data breach expert – Kyle Wilhoit, to uncover just how quickly someone can be hacked when firing up their mobile devices. Wilhoit started out with brand new machines, created a fake identity for Engle all set with phony contact lists with fake names and addresses. The two then went to a restaurant and decided to use a new smart phone to seek some information. Almost immediately malware had began to download onto their phone. Depending on who may have been accessing the information, Engle’s financial and even physical security may have become compromised.

Kaspersky Labs has the grueling task of protecting the Olympic Games but says with so many devices available, hackers will have a wide assortment to choose from. So if you plan to visit Sochi, be prepared to have your information stolen.
