Friends and family said goodbye to Demajhay Bell at Beulah Grove Baptist Church. The 18 year old died last week, after he was stabbed during a large street brawl in Hephzibah that resulted in his senseless death.
Mario Outland, Demajhay Bell’s basketball coach said: “His passing, I hope it teaches all these youth out there. We gotta come together and put this to an end.” This weekend his Demajhay’s basketball teammates held a car wash to raise money for the funeral and also serving as pallbearers.
Authorities have arrested nine people — men and women ranging in age from 18 to 39 — and charged each with aggravated assault and felony murder. Six of those arrested are students at Glenn Hills High School. Georgia law defines felony murder as a death caused during the commission of another felony. The charge does not require intent to kill and it carries an automatic life sentence.
