Remembering Annette Funicello

Former child-star and original Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer – Annette Funicello died at the age of 70-years old from complications due to MS. Anette Funicello was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis almost 20-years ago.

Some of Anette’s remembered roles were The Shaggy Dog” and “Babes in Toyland,” then inn the early 1960s she starred in a series of “Beach Party” movies with Frankie Avalon, that included “Beach Party,” “Muscle Beach Party,” “Pajama Beach Party,” “Beach Blanket Bing” and “How to Stuff a Wild Bikini.”

Anette’s health began rapidly deteriorating in 2004 when she lost her ability to walk and in 2009 when she was no longer able to speak. Funicello was married to her first husband, Jack Gilardi, from 1965 to 1981, with whom she had three children. Anette’s family members were by her side when she was taken off of life support.
