WEAU-TV sue Strong Man Pranksters Chop & Steele

Wisconsin TV station WEAU-TV is suing the comedy duo #ChopandSteele for pranking them on the early morning show, ‘Hello, Wisconsin.’ According to reports, Gray Television, has filed a federal lawsuit against the two New York pranksters, Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher.

They “fraudulently induced Gray Television station WEAU to book their appearance for a live interview on its flagship morning program,” the lawsuit reads.

Found Footage Festival founders Picket and Prueher, appeared on ‘Hello, Wisconsin’ on Nov. 29 as “fake strongman duo Chop & Steele.” They had also appeared on TV shows in Bismarck, North Dakota and Allentown, Pennsylvania, according to Deadspin. You may have also seen the comedic duo on “America’s Got Talent,” “Steve Harvey” and the Hallmark Channel’s “Marie,”.

Gray Television contends that Pickett and Prueher infringed on the show’s copyright, and is seeking all profits and gains from the infringement.

According to Prueher and Prickett – “There was no ill will about any of this,” Prueher said to Mercury. “The joke is kind of on us. We were the ones being jerks on TV.”

“If they had done … their due diligence, that I feel like is the responsibility of a news organization, they would have known this was a goof, but you know, they didn’t,” he said. “That’s how it worked.”

Breaking news to “Hello Wisconsin and all morning shows, no one cares about your boring segments. These guys made your show relevant.

They made you look silly? Do you laugh it off and tighten up your vetting process? Hell no, you make yourselves look like total jerks and file a lawsuit. Shame on you.
