Eagle River Fire Protection District posted a video to its Facebook page showign the moment Colorado Fire Department & Police Coax Bear Out Of an Apartment.

Apparently hungry bear somehow made its way into a second-floor apartment in Avon, Colorado, early Saturday morning, prompting a response from sheriff’s deputies and firefighters.
The Eagle River Fire Protection District’s Engine 7 was dispatched to the home after the small intruder was reported to be rummaging through a refrigerator about 4:45 a.m., according to post on the agency’s Facebook page.

A brief video released by the fire department shows four firefighters and two Eagle County deputies in a hallway, slowly approaching the entrance to the apartment.

“Bears are out, and they are hungry! At approximately 4:45 this morning, Engine 7 (Avon) was dispatched to a service call for a report of a bear in the living room of a second floor apartment. The crew, with the assistance of Eagle County Sheriffs deputies, were able to chase off a small bear who had been rummaging through the refrigerator. The apartment’s resident locked himself in his bedroom until the bruin could be encouraged to vacate the premises. No injuries (to humans or bear) were reported.
ERFPD encourages everyone to keep your windows and doors secured, and ensure garbage and pet food aren’t left out to attract bears. Remember, a fed bear is a dead bear.”
