Albuquerque Police Officers Charged with Murder

Back in March 16, 2014 an Albuquerque Police Department lapel camera showed the standoff with James Boyd before officers fired six shots killing the homeless man. Now, New Mexico’s district attorney – Kari Brandenburg, has decided to charge two Albuquerque police officers with murder.

james boydAlbuquerque SWAT team member Dominique Perez and former detective Keith Sandy have been charged with the murder of James Boyd,38, who authorities later said suffered from schizophrenia.

Oddly enough, Brandenburg is now battling bribery allegations from the same police force. In a statement, she said: “I’m going to let you guys speculate to that,” Brandenburg told reporters when asked if the bribery claims were efforts to prevent her from seeking charges. “I am not going to be intimidated. As long as I have a breath in my body, I will do what I think is right for the people that I represent.”

Attorneys for the officers say their clients did nothing wrong.
