A secret recorded audio tape of an NYPD frisk search of Alvin is causing quite a stir because of the force used. The NYPD has a Stop and Frisk program in which they randomly frisk “suspicious individuals. This is done at least 1,800 times a day.
Of the 700,000 stop-and-frisks performed in 2011, 84% were conducted on blacks and Latinos, and only 2% turned up contraband, according to the Center for Constitutional Rights.
During the audio recording, you can hear Alvin being a little defiant but in his own right for constantly being surveyed by the Police. Unfortunately for Alvin, he was a little too defiant for the officer.
Alvin – Why am I being arrested?
Officer – For being a mutt.
