Joe Paterno FIRED

Well it’s official, Penn State has some bad news to deliver to Joe Paterno. The university’s board of trustees voted late Wednesday night to fire Paterno, effective immediately.

This coming hours after Joe Paterno (Joe Pa) announced early Wednesday that he would retire at the end of the season. The decision to retire came not because of his age or common sense by Penn State, but only in the wake of the child sex abuse scandal that began with the arrest of Paterno’s former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

In announcing his retirement, Paterno — who’s been PSU’s head coach for 46 years — said the trustees should “not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address.”

PSU President Graham Spanier was allowed to resign.

Paterno and Spanier are only two university officials who have been in the hot seat for not going to police with their knowledge of Sandusky’s alleged sex abuse incidents with young boys, some even dating back to 1994.

Hundreds of students are rallying on the Penn State campus many chanting support for Paterno.

I find this to be truly ridiculous. People are chanting words of support for Joe Paterno? Are you kidding me? That’s like an elderly driver hitting a pedestrian, getting scared and not telling anyone, only to have the issue be raised later on and decide to stop driving and give up his license to the state. Then on top of all that, have a bunch of people petition that he be able to drive again.
